October 10 - Report Your Tips

Employees working for tips must report if they've earned more than $20 in tips during September. Submit this information to your employer using IRS Form 4070 no later than October 10. Remember, employers need to withhold FICA taxes and income taxes from these tips. Should your regular wages not cover the required withholding, the uncollected amount will be shown in box 8 of your W-2 for the year, necessitating payment when filing your annual return.

October 15 - Foreign Financial Assets Reporting

Individuals granted an automatic 6-month extension to declare their foreign financial accounts to the Department of the Treasury must file Form FinCEN 114 by this date.
